Places of interest

Löbnitz has a history of over 1000 years.

It was here that Martin Luther formed a close friendship with the daughter of the von Schönfeld family, who, like his wife Katharina von Bora, had fled the Nimbschen monastery in 1523. The Protestant church in Löbnitz – in which Martin Luther also preached – is a stately brick building and was built around 1100. It was rebuilt several times and has a rich interior decoration as well as a rare coffered ceiling (1691). Our Hotel-Pension Keller is located directly on the Luther Way.

Seelhausen Lake:

Visitors will find restful tranquility and plenty of space for recreational activities on the 15 km long circular trail around Seelhausen Lake: walkers, inline skaters, cyclists, runners, horseback riders and anglers will find excellent opportunities to spend a relaxing time here with friends and family.

The lake, which was created from the former Rösa open-cast lignite mine, will continue to develop as a tourist destination in the near future and further increase the attractiveness of the region.

Mulde Valley Cycle Path
Löbnitz developed from the open-cast mining landscape a large nature recreation area. Discover various resting and viewing points during a great bike ride at the adjacent Seelhausen Lake and Goitzsche Lake. Our house also offers you a bike rental for this purpose. In Löbnitz – the horse village – the riding clubs also offer various possibilities to get to know the surroundings on horseback, in a carriage and in a Kremser.

Goitzsche lake region:

Within a very short time, an enchanting lake landscape was created – an Eldorado for big and small water rats, sailors, surfers, anglers, hikers, joggers and cyclists. The 1,332-hectare lake is especially popular with sailors. Those who like it a little faster can ride a wakeboard across the lake at speeds of up to 30 km/h. Cyclists can discover interesting nature experiences and exciting landscape art projects around the lakes. All routes are day trips and suitable for the whole family. To round off a perfect day, the maritime flair can be enjoyed particularly well on a sun terrace with a view of the lake and culinary specialties.

The Goitzsee lake can also be explored in a relaxed way with an excursion boat. The MS “Reudnitz” and the MS “Vineta” offer regular round trips. Boat and bicycle rentals, restaurants and playgrounds complete the offerings on the shore and make you want to visit the Goitzsche again.

DÜBENER HEIDE:

Nestled in the natural riverine landscapes of the Elbe and Mulde, the largest mixed forest in central Germany exudes the freshness of a hilly landscape shaped by the ice age. In the Dübener Heide Nature Park, located about 30 kilometers north of Leipzig and very close to the Luther sites of Wittenberg and Torgau, cranes and sea eagles circle above romantic ponds and lakes.
